Volunteer
We provide free, confidential, and individualized tutoring services to adults in basic literacy (BL) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Tutoring is provided by professionally trained and supported volunteer tutors. Adult learners and tutors work one-on-one at a time and at a public place that is mutually convenient. Pairs may also meet remotely.
Program staff carefully match tutor-student pairs and provide support and guidance throughout the tutoring process. Our flexible scheduling and individualized approach help mitigate the logistical barriers to tutoring that many students face, including lack of childcare or transportation, or in fear of failure or embarrassment in a classroom setting.

Volunteer Information Sessions are offered each month and alternate between virtual and in person sessions at a variety of locations. Upcoming dates, times and locations of information sessions are included in our monthly newsletter and are posted to our Facebook page.
Sessions include detailed information about the program and what we offer, time commitments, and training provided to volunteers.
